Dagse manne.

Armand.
Hogdon Lil Gun is absolute first prize for the Hornet, but as far as I as aware Dave Sheer has never imported it into the country.
Vihtavouri N110 is second prize but I am not sure if S+O ever brought it in.
S265 is probably what you going to end up using.

It could but please here me very carefully.
The smallest of difference in powder weight makes a huge difference in velocity and pressure.
You must work up your load very carefully and slowly.
You may also want to use a little bit of dacron filler as your case fill will be quite low.

Daar is N110 in die land. Ons gebruik dit in die .458Socom

Nou die groot vraag... sal dit die moeite werd wees om H110 te koop en meer te betaal as S265? Wat se QL met 35gr VMax?

N110, nie H110 nie.
Baie nice poeier.

Node 3 met 24 duim loop
S265 - 2820vps
N110 - 2880vps

Albei met baie vol doppe.

Ek weet wat ek sou gebruik.

Ok.
I assume you've used default case volume and COL.
So if I may ask.
Which powder would be your choice and why ?

To gain 60fps and pay more than double for the propellant does not make sense.

I hear you.
Just a few observations and hypothetical questions.
The powder burn % on S265 is lower than Viht N110
If you are prepared to sacrifice a few fps in muzzle velocity to reach node 3 but want 100% burn rate and do not want to have a severely compressed load, would Viht N105 not be a better bet.
I'm not sure if it is available though.

I did not look for a faster propellant but thought that filling was quite severe amd might be a problem.

That was my point.
All the calcs i have done recently with S265 have shown burn rates well below what was expected.
In the examples above using 35 grain V max bullets the load density was already at 107% and this is with the optimistic default values for S 265.
If S265 does not perform as expected then the case fill may be even more and powder burn rate even lower, which is going to result in some seriously dirty chamber and/or some spectacular fireworks at the muzzle end of the barrel.

The above statement obviously applies to 35 grain bullets.

Also a 22 Hornet guy here.

I queried Dave Sheer when they brought in the initial batch of Hodgedon powders, whether they will be bringing in more, and if so, whether 'Lil Gun will be on the cards. The comment of the sales person was that if there was enough interest, they would consider it.

Sad reality is that, even if there was a fair amount of interest, I don't really see it happening, as most of us Hornet owners will buy a tin or two at the most, due to the small loads it takes, "it will last forever", and so hence, there is no real "volume" in the 'Lil Gun.

I reckon if enough of us ask for it, there is a chance though. I personally would love some. ~2800fps for 45gr, and just shy of 3000fps for 40's would be epic!

45gr S&B SPRN 2911
Dopvulling by 50%.
6gr = 2134vps = 25K psi (maks 43500psi)
