Naand Manne

Ek wil graag Hornady se 212 grein Eld X probeer in my 300 win mag met Vihtavuori N570.

Baie dankie

Hi Dale

It is correct. I just measured a loaded round. It does not fit in the mag but shoot it as a single shot rifle. I also measured one of the bullet heads and they measure just over 40mm. Appreciate your assistance

Jeez thts some long freebore you have on your rifle.
Is it a Weatherby ?

As things stand with your current batch of powder and components and with the infomation supplied the highest node potentially achievable is

Node 5
79.3 grains
2958 fps -15 fps on the chrony at 5 meters
59500 psi so approach this load with caution

Hi Dale

Thank you for the information.

No it is a winchester M70 supergrade. I still measure the max TPL with bullet in the barrel and cleaning rod. I measured the max TPL again three times after your previous reply and it measured 93.90mm. There is a 0.20mm differences from what I measured originally, don't know if that will make a huge difference? But the total length of the rounds that I loaded is correct.

Based on your calculations where about will node 6 be. Will be happy if I can get something around 2800 a 2850. Thank you for your assistance I really appreciate it.

I am going to recommend 76.8 grains for an average of 2839 - 15 fps (2824 fps on the chrony)
51800 psi

Lets us know how that works out.
