Taxidermie is iets wat baie versigtig gekies moet word so ek gaan maar in Engels skryf so dat ek dit beter aan julle kan oorbring. Ek hoop wat ek se maak sin en dat julle trofee kamers eendag fantasies lyk.
Just because your local Taxidermist did a great job on your 16" Springbok, doesn't mean to say thet he'll do a great job on your 17" Bushbuck. In fact, most SA taxidermists that I've visited clearly stand out as being good with only 3 or 4 species. The rest of their species are avarage at best and because you pay a lot of hard earned money to hunt, you should never settle for avarage when it comes to your trophies.
Keep in mind that your trophies are a part of your hunting memories and that a beautifully mounted trophy will be a source of enjoyment for you and your hunting buddies for MANY years to come.
Unfortunately many SA hunters make two very big mistakes when choosing a taxidermist.
1. They want their trophy back yesterday.
2. It must cost as little as possible.
The best taxidermy takes time and it's not cheap!
The best taxidermy studios employ a large number of highly skilled staff and we also know that skills don't come cheap. Neither does the constant design and sculpting of new and updated forms, or the very expensive chemicals and tanning equipment needed.
The top 6 taxidermy studios in SA have done years of research, sculpting, making death masks, resculpting forms and perfecting their art to the point that most of the species they work on come out looking as natural as the real live animal and of museum quality. Because they're the best, they're also busy, so you need to wait for your trophies (which is not a bad thing) and they're also more pricey than the next guy.
I've visited taxidermists all over the world and when it comes to African trophies, the taxidermy studios below stand head and shoulders above the rest with regard to museum quality work and the true to life capturing of 95%+ of all species they work on. Drop your trophies off at any of the studios below and you'll never use another taxidermist again!

NB: No matter how good a taxidermist is, he can only work with what he gets and it's YOUR responsibility to make sure that your capes and skins have been properly and corrctly prepared during and after your hunt.
