Shoot advert 2a.pdf
We are trying to get SA Hunters members to bring a buddie, so the handicap we are going to use will work as follows:
Member and Non member team - start on 0 points
2 Members - start on minus
2 non members - start on positive
We held this shoot last year and it was very enjoyable, all game prizes are hunts. The winners will get to arrange with the farm owners, sponsors, dates and times and then go and hunt their animals with no extra costs to the winner
I will answer any questions you have?

Smitstertjies, we do, we have found that most / many of our members do not go to shoots because of the scoring and time taken to get all the disciplines done, they just want to shoot, this way it is a lot more social, with a competitive side, and you either hear the gong or not and we have 3 teams at each station at a time, rotating and have breaks in between. shoot at full size animal targets cut from grn 500 steel, jackal, crow, baboon and warthog (f...n expensive ). The hunts are a big draw card

Baasvark, give me your email add. and I will send the flyer to you.
In teams of 2 you shoot : Shotgun - 5 Clays each.
.22 @ 50m or less - 10 shots. You have to drop 5 falling plates before you can move onto your grouping target, with a min of 3 shots to count for the group, but all shots are scored. so in other words, if you take 8 shots to drop your plates you automatically fall out of grouping comp. but you will still score points.
Rifle Range 1 - 5 gongs at unknown distances, with a bonus gong if you hit all 5 , every one will get to shoot at bonus gong, but only those that got full house will score points.
Rile Range 2 - 5 Animals simulating hunting , these distances will be given.
Range is about 15km out of Queenstown, R200 entry per team includes Tea / Coffee / Rusks and a Braai pack and salads - Bring own bar.
Shooting in at 8am - 9am,
Date: 21 March 2015

Wayne, it sounds like fun.
What shooting positions are you going to use for the different events and what equipment (bi-pods, shooting sticks, sand bags, rests etc) must the competitors bring along?

Have just got home after, I think, a very successful shoot. 50 entries, conditions were perfect, and all had lots of fun, and what I have noticed is that the quality of the shooting is improving every year, Andrew Nel ( forum member ) shot 11 / 11 gongs & animal targets ranging from 160 to 340 (6.5 x 55 ),he shot a 208 out of max 242, this was outstanding. the next was a 165.
The winners and runners up also got a turn at a shot each with a .50 Calibre, which rattled some teeth.
Well done to all winners, and we will run the same thing next year.
