Amen.“For all the promises of God in Him are Yes,
and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.” ~ 2 Corinthians 1:20 -
Have you ever stopped to think about what you’re saying when you say “amen”?
We often use that word to end a prayer. When we pray together, it lets everyone know we’ve finished. But beloved, your “amen” means so much more. In that one word, you are expressing your trust in your Father: “Father, I believe You. Let this be so in my life.”
Look at today’s Scripture. All the promises of God are “Yes” in Christ. Jesus has paid for the blessings you could never earn for yourself. Through His finished work, He has opened the way for you to receive from your Father.
Sometimes, when we hear a promise, we start thinking about whether we deserve it. We remember something we said or an area where we’ve fallen short, and we hesitate. Beloved, Jesus is the reason you can receive. He bore your sins and made you righteous in Him.
Your “amen” is your response to His “yes.” You are saying, “Father, because of what Jesus has done, I receive what You have promised.”
So when you hear a promise from His Word, you can respond personally. When Scripture says, “My God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Phil. 4:19), you can say, “Amen, Father. Thank You that Your supply is for me too.”
When you do this, you are trusting Him to provide for the need on your heart. You may not know how the answer will come, but you know who you are depending on.
“But Pastor Prince, what if I still feel uncertain?”
You can bring that uncertainty to Him too. Saying “amen” doesn’t mean you have every question answered. You are placing your trust in the One who made the promise. His faithfulness gives you confidence to receive.
So the next time His Word speaks to a need in your life, don’t pass over it as though it were only for someone else. Your Father knows your need, and He loves you. You can respond right there: “Amen, Father. Because of Jesus, this promise is for me too.”
Let that be the assurance behind your “amen”: Jesus has made the way, and your Father delights in giving to you.
