Ek moet jou komplimenteer op nuwe dvd,ek skiet baie jakkalse en katte die laaste tyd ,maar leer elke keer iets nuut uit jou DVD,s wat my vermoe en kennis net weer opskerp in die veld.

Ek het laas naweek in Betlehem geskiet vir 2 nagte en net n
paar basiese dinge op die dvd weer toegepas en dit werk.(11 jakkalse en 4 katte).

Dankie vir n "GREAT" dvd en die vooreg dat jy jou kennis en ondervinding met ons deel.

Baaie dankie vir die spoedige pos van jou DVD en CD, ek waardeur dit, ek het so pas n? oog operasie gehad, en het  nog so n? maand voor ek weer kan begin skiet, so ek het al die tyd in die wereld om dit te kyk. (Mag nie in die stof kom nie, mag nie ry nie, mag nie sweet nie ens. ens.) Jy het gevra vir  kommentaar, en ek het dit goed gedink om dit op die forum te plaas vir verdere kommentaar,  ek hoop u gee nie om nie, en as van die forum lede my wil afslag, ek kan nog darem redelik vinnig hardloop. Dit vat my ook 3 maal langer om in Afrikaans te tik, so diegene wat soos Kruger net engels in selfverdediging praat, sorry, maar ek gaan nou oorslaan na Soutie toe

1. Let me begin by complimenting you on an outstanding effort in the production of both DVD?s, they are intelligently compiled, easy to follow, very educational and of excellent quality considering most of the action takes place at night, and decent night vision equipment in this country is prohibitively expensive, if you can get it.
2. Selling them to the person?s currently hunting jackal full or part time will offer only a limited market, so your focus has to be on the people still to be recruited into this great game. As such I would like to suggest that you also offer them as a double DVD in one cover, as the second one on its own will not cover the educational needs of the novice, for a good grounding he/she definitely needs to own the first one as well. As someone who is an old hand at the game, it may be difficult for you or others to remember just how many questions a beginner has, and how difficult it is for them to read a given situation when it?s just them and the jackal out there. The second DVD is not, as you suggested, better than the first; it follows on from the first and gives a more practical approach to the basics offered in the first one.
3. I don?t know how other people go about establishing stands on a property that they have not hunted before, but I travel to the farm in daylight, try to get a labourer to point out problem areas, map all the roads and access avenues on the GPS, personally look for sign, find the most suitable stand, and then I place a waypoint on my GPS before moving on. I have also found that the farmer very seldom knows what is required of a stand, so I don?t rely on him to take me at night for the first time. With this in mind, I would have liked to have seen a daylight photo of the stands discussed in the 2nd DVD, and where possible the schematic placed on that, or alternatively use the schematic to enhance the information gained from the photo. Just a night video lacks depth and scale, the terrain features also are lost.
4. On the second DVD you discuss calls using the your own CD?s names, this is good, as you want people to buy your product, but there are one hell of a lot of sounds available from other producers, as well as free calls such as Varmint Al, Western rivers etc. I would have suggested that if you use, for instance, ?Jakkals roep? , or ?Flekkie 2?, you immediately play a few seconds of that call, even if it?s played later, or played without active announcement, in that way, if someone does not have your ?songs?, he/she will almost certainly feel that they need them, as they work, and the proof is there in the video.
5. I have been shooting daylight stands for over two years now, and have made a lot of mistakes, the primary one being movement, and the next worst getting direct sunlight on my hands and / or face. I have also noticed that if a jackal gets ?slim? for daylight calling, that area gets to be a nightmare. I appreciate the fact that you are an old hand, more so than probably all of us here, but as this production is aimed at teaching the less experienced, I would have liked to have seen or heard a warning on the daylight section with regard to the danger areas, and probably a recommendation on covering skin, shooting rests, approaching the stand and the like.
6. As a final comment, I grant you full bragging rights on that 400 yd plus shot, well done, that was some shooting, I played that segment over and over just to hear how long it took for that shot to tell.

Criticism aside, well done, you have every right to feel proud of your productions.

Thanks for the compliments and the sound advice. I will be concentrating on day calling for the next several months to get the right footage en then try and compile a DVD on that as well. I have also some plans on the sounds of jackal. I need to go through my database of videotapes to get the different jackal sounds to put together the chart on the different sounds and what I have learned what they mean. It is but an educated guess but might help people to understand jackal-talk.

It may take several months but I hope to finish it later this year.

I am looking forward to seeing the results on both of those projects, good luck, they sound really great.

Elsewhere on the forum I saw a discussion on rifle rests in day stands, I would not like to prescribe, but what works for me is one of those old collapsible camera tripods. You can adjust the height to suit the stand, use it as a mono, bi or tripod, it is a stable base, and the head that the rifle rests on turns 360 degrees, just make and screw a cradle onto the head, and the rifle cannot slip off.

Gister die nuwe DVD en CD by Boeta opgetel, klaar klanke op Foxpro gesit en DVD al drie keer gekyk.

Soos jy se, baie aanvullend tot die eerstes, hou van die grafiese voorstellings vooraf, goed gedoen.

Ek sien baie uit na die dagroep DVD, later in die jaar.

Net n vraag sukkel jy met jou slot.

Skiet jy op een plek in die DVD met n .22 cal toe die 7 jak in gekom het.

Ek sal dit vir jou gee en niemand kan dit weg vat nie jy mag maar skiet.
