Forster matryse

Redding and Forster Competition Seaters have a case shaped interior sleeve that the case fits up in and supposedly holds it in place to align the bullet with the neck. However, the interior needs to be cut large enough to fit any case in that caliber so it is not necessarily a tight fit. A seater can not contact the body or it would be sizing it and you would need to lube it to get it out.
The RCBS Competition Seater with the convenient window does not have a sleeve to go around the case body but it does have a sliding sleeve that holds the bullet after you put it in the slot and that sliding bullet holder has a sloped shoulder that contacts the case shoulder to keep everything aligned. The sliding bullet sleeve is a tight fit on the bullet. So the sliding bullet sleeve holds the bullet perfectly straight up and down while the ram is raised and the sloped shoulder aligns the case much like chambering a PFLR case in the chamber.

Runout is minimaal tot dusver so ek is baie gelukkig. Is net nie goedkoop nie.

Re: Forster matryse
Het so bietjie gaan Google, een opmerking was "...does it (RCBS) match the performance of the redding or other top comp dies ?"
"No. In fact ONLY Redding/Forster seaters with full length sleeves that align both the bullets and cases before seating starts offer an accuracy advantage over more conventional seaters and are worth the extra cost.
It's worth mentioning that no seater can make straight ammo in cases with out of line necks."

As ek kon sou ek vir al my gewere Forster seater dies gehad het

Re: Forster matryse

Re: Forster matryse
I also just want to add my 2c's.
I have both the Redding and Forster sizing and seater dies for my 260, the seater’s both have the micrometre’s on the top. They are both very good although the Red brand is much easier to set the seating depth with because the spacing and markings on the micrometre are much larger and easier to read.
I know seating is not everything so I think the more critical thing when reloading is the sizing dies because no matter how good the seater is, if the case is not concentric you will not get a straight bullet no matter how much money you throw at the seater.
The Sizing dies I use are the Forster Bump sizing bushing die for three loads and then I use a Redding FL Type S bushing die for every forth reload or when the rounds become tight in the chamber. That means I only push the shoulder back a .001-.002 (after properly setting them up to do so) with both dies and only use bushings for the sizing of the necks with both dies. With both these dies the run out is exactly, or very close to what it was when the round was taken out my chamber so I can’t say that one is better than the other.

Ek mis glad nie my RCBS nie

Ja ek weet jong
