308win 155gr scenar help

Please can you guys give me some help with my 308.

Bullet: 155gr lapua scenar
Powder S335 lot 714/15
Brass: lapua 51.00mm
Max TPL: 74.35mm
COAL: 72.00mm
H20: 56gr
Barrel: 660mm
Fiocchi Primers

Tests:

41.5gr - 2680 fps ave of 3

42.0 - 2728 fps ave of 3

42.5 - 2760 fps ave of 3

43.0 - 2795 fps ave of 3

None of the groups were terrible. They were all 3 shot groups where 2 were really close with 1 being half to 3/4 of an inch away in almost all of the groups.

there was a bit of wind so i am taking that into consideration.

Could you please advise me as to where my accurate node will be.

Eric, I think S335 Batch 714 was recalled by Somchem. Maybe thats an issue? Otherwise I have the same setup, and 72mm tpl with 43gr S335 works very well

714 is just a bitter hotter than standard. I think it was 717 or something that got recalled

My RSA does exactly 2800fps out of a 630mm barrel with 155 Scenars ahead of 41.6gr S335 lot 714 , 72.3 Tpl with 0.5mm jump

I think you should try and load them against the lands. These bullets with the secant ogive design are more sensitive to long jumps to the lands and tend to group best just kissing the lands. Also I see you have a 26" barel and think your fastest node will be just over 2800fps.

Node is at 2829fps at the muzzle (less 15 for chrony at 5m) - 43,3gr will get you close. (Pressure 58,5K psi)

Eric, try the load first and if it does not work then try the bullet closer to the lands. You will however have to reduce the load by at least 4 grains and work up to ensure a safe pressure.

The few bisley guys that use the Lapua's, shoot with at least 2mm jump, I know of one that uses 2,7mm jump in his gun.
